Chantelle Millward is my name, i'm a non-indentical twin, i'm a midget at just 4 ft 11 (Damn, i'm not even 5 ft yet!) i'm 16, i go College and i am doing a course to help my future attributions of working in the NHS and being a midwife. Who said CF can stop you?
I was born on the tenth of April, and was diagnosed with Cystic Fibrosis at four weeks old.
CF is an inherited disorder which causes the build up of mucous in the internal organs mainly the lungs and digestive system, but it can also affect many more of our organs. It causes fibrosis (scarring) on the internal organs affected. Because the build up of mucous allows infections to harbour in our lovley moist lungs and also stops the production of digestive enzymes in our digestive system so we have to take what i call 'placebo enzymes'. (This happens in most patients with CF.) The best and most important thing to help try and keep yourself well is to keep fit and healthy.

That is just a brief outline of what it is, because if i went through the in's and out's i'd be here all day and night. But if you do have any questions, then ask them. I'm happy to answer them to the best of my ability.

Apart from this i lead a normal life. I never have and never will let CF define me. Yes, it takes up a massive part in my life, but it doesn't stop me from achieving my dreams. There is some positive things to having CF you probably thinking what?! Well if i didn't have it, to be honest i would not be the person i am today. I most probably wouldn't have the positive attitude as i do, i also wouldn't be as mature as i am, and i probably wouldn't have a clear mind set on my career for the future, if i didn't understand/appreciate what the nurses and the nhs do.

Cheesy quote of the day for you: "Positive thoughts+Positive mind=Postive Experiences"

Oh i'm your average teenager! you know the stereotypical one who's always chatting, and on her phone/computer (like now)? Yep that is me.

Oh i'll explain this course anyhow's well it's called an NHS HealthCare Cadet Course Level 3. It's a 2 year course and consists of just coursework woo no exams! Well that's what i thought but having to do like 3 assignments a day is a lot harder then i thought but i am enjoying it! It's a competitive course and out of 80 people who apply only 20 get on it. So i was utterly amazed, happy and shocked i got on it. But of course i'm not complaining. I go college 3 days a week Mon-Wed and Thurs and Fri i am on placement in a nhs hospital so i move around the hospital learning new skills. It is so good. My first placement is in the Eye Hospital it isn't really my best placement i mean seeing people get needles in their eye YES in their eye is pretty minging. But i suppose i'm developing new skills so it isn't all that bad right? Obviously i have to avoid wards which could put myself or others at risk these would be Chest wards, as with CF your more immune to getting infections and also catching infections which are not harmful in people who have healthy lungs. I'm enjoying the course so far, and i really can't wait to experience the other wards such as maternity!

So that's all i am going to write tonight because i'm loosing things to write about! So questions and ideas for my next blog would be brill!

Owning a regular lawn mower does not mean you have to give up on mulching your yard; you just have to be willing to do some work. This same person spread several yards of the mulch around their house before they realized the problem, and it ruined many of their plants.
